The Final Trials of Anne Hutchinson – Summerville

February 8 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Set in a modern college lecture hall, grad students are taken on an unexpected journey to the Puritan world of Massachusetts Bay Colony, 1633 to 1643, where Anne Hutchinson is on trial for her opinions on freedom of conscience, treatment of women and tribal people in New England. She and Roger Williams challenge the power structure to forge a path of freedom in the wilds of the new world. Written and produced by Chris Weatherhead, co-directed by Trevor D. Erickson, and starring Clarence Felder and a supporting cast, the docudrama runs 64 minutes. It will be attended by South Carolina Humanities Scholar, Alexia Jones Helsley (USC Aiken History Dept.), for a short Q&A time following the preview screening of the new film.
